The R.M.S. Titanic was one of the greatest ocean liners of our time. She was built in Belfast by Harland and Wolff, the second member of the White Star line's triple-screw Olympic class ocean liners. The Titanic departed Southampton on April 10, 1912, and eventually hit an iceberg and sunk 400 miles off the coast of Newfoundland on April 15, 1912, at 2:20 A.M. Over 1500 people died as a resulting lack of lifeboats. The Titanic disaster went on to change maritime law and history forever, and is remembered to this day.
